Lewiston Housing accepts online applications for several housing assistance programs. Each program has different eligibility requirements and separate waiting lists. Please read the descriptions below to make sure you are applying for the correct program.
Housing Choice Vouchers
The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program helps eligible households rent safe and affordable housing in the private market. Lewiston Housing participates in the statewide centralized waitlist.

- ✔️ Pay approximately 30% of your income towards rent
- ✔️ Long-term rental assistance
Mainstream Program
The Mainstream program provides Housing Choice Vouchers to non-elderly adults with disabilities. This waitlist is managed directly by Lewiston Housing. More info →
Key points:
- ✔️ Must be 18–61
- ✔️ Must have a qualifying disability
- ✔️ Referrals from the CoC get priority
- ✔️ Rent from participating landlord
- ✔️ Pay approximately 30% of your income towards rent
- ✔️ Long-term rental assistance
Direct Rental Assistance
Direct Rental Assistance is a pilot that provides rental assistance directly to tenants, rather than landlords. Participants choose their unit, pay rent themselves, and receive monthly subsidy assistance. More info →
