Housing Navigation Services

Our housing navigator works with families who are unhoused or those at risk of experiencing homelessness in Androscoggin County to obtain housing and assists them in maintaining stable housing.

The housing navigator supports families in finding suitable homes and works with them to identify and meet goals to maintain housing stability. The navigator works with families for a year after they move into their new homes.

Our navigator also builds relationships with landlords in Androscoggin County so they can identify community partners to help those who are experiencing homelessness. If you are a landlord and would like to participate, please contact our housing navigator below.

Mainstream Voucher Program

The Mainstream Voucher program assists non-elderly participants with disabilities. There is a preference for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Lewiston Housing currently administers 139 Mainstream vouchers and has resources to help provide security deposits to eligible program participants. Participants rent apartments from private landlords in the community and pay approximately 30% of their monthly income towards rent – Lewiston Housing pays the difference.

Applications for the Mainstream voucher program can be completed at the Maine Centralized Waiting List.

Emergency Housing Voucher Program

Lewiston Housing has fifteen Emergency Housing Vouchers made available by the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) for people who are unhoused or at risk of experiencing homelessness. This program is administered in collaboration with the Maine Continuum of Care (MCoC). As of September 30, 2023, no new admissions are permitted due to statutory requirements.
